Renato Rampolla is an American lens-based artist whose work delves into the essence of humanity, focusing on themes of loss, connection, and presence. His photography examines the complex relationships between individuals, society, and the natural world, inviting viewers to reflect on the experience of seeing and being seen.

A graduate of the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Social and Behavioral Sciences (1983), Rampolla studied under sculptor Jerry Meatyard, brother of renowned photographer Ralph Eugene Meatyard. During this time, he developed his skills in composition, color, and sculptural form.

Rampolla has gained recognition in various prestigious platforms. His book Dignity No Matter What: The Light Within, which features intimate portraits of marginalized individuals, was juried into the 12th Annual Photobook Show at the Davis Orton Gallery (2021) in Hudson, NY. The book was also exhibited at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA.

His work has been showcased in numerous national galleries and museums, including the 2022 and 2023 Soho Photo Gallery National Competition in New York, NY, PhotoSpiva at the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, MO, The SE Center for Photography in Greenville, SC, and Praxis Photo Arts Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Recent solo exhibitions include The Mount Dora Center for the Arts in Mount Dora, FL, The Museum of Art in Deland, FL, and the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art in Tarpon Springs, FL. His work has also been featured in notable group exhibitions at The Museum of Art and History in Maitland, FL, and Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL.

Recognizing his artistic achievements, Rampolla has been honored with the Professional Development for Artists Grant on two occasions, from the esteemed Arts Council of Hillsborough County, FL.
