Held in Bone
Held in Bone grew out of silence. It is the kind of silence that follows loss and never fully leaves. The portraits in this book are of people who carry that silence in their faces, in the way they meet your eyes and the way they look away. They live in the space between presence and absence, between what we reveal and what we keep hidden.
I began this work as a way of remembering what I thought I had forgotten. My hope is that these images give the viewer a place to slow down, to sit with what lingers beneath the surface, and to recognize a trace of themselves in that quiet.
